Jonathan has been working as a storyteller for over fifteen years. He regularly works in schools, librarie s, arts centres, and other community venues. His stories come from all around the world. Some are funny, some are touching, some are frightening. His repertoire includes stories about animals, stories about pirates, and stories about dragons, as well as Christmas stories and ghost stories - find out more on the Stories Told page..
If you want stories on a particular theme, Jonathan will happily search out suitable material (just make sure you give him sufficient notice). Over the years, he has been asked for stories on trees, dreams, mythical beasts, Gothic horror, science fiction - so far, he has been able to fit the bill.
A technique that Jonathan frequently uses - it goes down particularly well with younger audiences, and children with learning difficulties - is to illustrate his stories as he goes along. Schools often like to keep the pictures as an educational resource.
A lot of the storytelling sessions Jonathan undertakes in schools are inter-active. He is very skilled at using stimuli - visual, aural, tactile - to encourage pupils to develop stories of their own. Further details, and examples of stories developed in this way, can be found on the Workshop Stories page.
As well as telling stories to children, Jonathan is very experienced in working for adult audiences. His sessions have been enjoyed in pubs and restaurants, theatres and arts centres across the Midlands. He is a regular contributor to the SW@N sessions at the Newhampton Arms, Wolverhampton.
Fees for storytelling sessions range from £60 for a one-hour session to £200 for a full day. If you want to make a booking, or find out more details, contact Jonathan by phone or email - details at the top of the page.
